The bolts could corrode and break, leading to exhaust leaks in the engine compartment which posed a fire hazard.It doesn’t matter which bolts you use, it’s the manifolds that warp due to heat over time. Your best bet is to switch out manifolds with shorties, unless you want Long tube headers and customize your exhaust (more money). I personally did the LTs and custom as I didn’t want to deal with the broken bolts again.

Follow up report. My dealer diagnosed that both manifolds needed replacing due to warping, likely caused by broken bolts. Parts ordered tuesday, picked up the truck today (friday). The RAM warranty manual also says this. This is correct as I understand it because emissions are mandated to pass to 100k miles and leaking exhaust manifolds are a violation of that requirement.
